Since opening as a youth center in 2010, the ROCK has expanded and also serves as a multi-generational community center. We provide a safe, values centric family environment for social interaction, education, character development, leisure activities and emergency resources in time of need. The ROCK strives to make a positive influence in the lives of all who enter.
The ROCK is a 501c3 non-profit corporation funded by caring individuals, local, businesses, foundations, grants, and fundraising and is staffed by dedicated volunteers. The Youth Center first opened its doors in January 2010 and currently has over 150 registered members. The ROCK is for 6th-12th graders and programs include educational workshops, excursions, drop-in recreation, arts and crafts, community service, dances, game tournaments, concerts as well as lots of other great special events.
We have “School’s Out? Hang Out!” program for children K-5 when Kingsley schools are closed for teacher work days and snow days. This requires a non-refundable registration fee and daily program fee.
We are in our fifth year of collaborating with the G.T. County Senior Center Network and provide our facility to house senior citizen programming during the day on Wednesdays and Fridays. This has proven to be a wonderful asset for our seniors and benefits the ROCK as seniors volunteer to help with the afterschool youth program. For more information call 922-4911.
In an effort to better serve and provide outreach to others we continue our legacy of effective collaboration with the following organizations: K-Town Youth Care, G.T. Juvenile Court, Northwestern Michigan and Baker College Internship Programs, American Legion Post 436, Kingsley Lions Club, Village of Kingsley, AA, area churches, schools and businesses. We provide emergency services as an official American Red Cross emergency shelter.
